Venus Wine has been Hamilton Mill's leading wine and beer store since November 2008.
Independently owned and operated by Jim Luttgens, with the assistance of Lauren Woodruff, we are here to help you select outstanding wine and beer based on your particular tastes and mood. We only sell the wines and beers that we enjoy most, and prefer to support other independent and small family owned and operated producers.
We are on a perpetual quest to discover and share the most interesting, enjoyable, and appropriately priced wines that we can find. When selecting new products, they are judged for flavor, varietal character, apparent quality, and price to value ratio. We also consider place of origin, winemaker and winery history, and level of production. We believe that Family Operated, Estate Bottled, Single Vineyard, Small Production, Sustainably Grown, and Reasonably Priced are all aspects that set great wine apart from ordinary wine.
Our Beer Selection is continually changing as new beers come in and sell out. We believe that more is better when hops and malt are involved. Our focus is mainly toward American Craft Breweries, and Belgian or Belgian-style Ales, and we enjoy exploring interesting beers from all around the world. We also love the seasonal releases that our inspired brew masters create to match the changing of the weather and consumption circumstances. Collaboration projects, anniversary ales, and special editions are always among the most intriguing and satisfying beers we encounter, so we love trying new ones and sharing them with you.
At Venus Wine, we are also passionate about our beer. The craft beer movement in America has never been as vibrant or popular than it is right now. New breweries are opening every day, and many of them are expanding the boundaries of style, flavor, and quality. We love the adventure of discovering these great beers and sharing them with you. One of our favorite trends lately is the use of barrel aging, often used Bourbon Whiskey, Scots Whiskey, wine or other spirits, or just oak (or other wood) favoring through using a new oak barrel, or wood chips.
At Venus Wine, we consult closely with our customers to make appropriate recommendations to match your particular tastes. Both Jim and Lauren are quite familiar with characteristics of all (or nearly all) the wines and can help by comparing new choices to the wines we already know you like. The more we discuss wines that you try and like or dislike, and why, the easier it is for us to pick out new wines for you to enjoy. We also use the aggregate of our talks with our customers as the basis behind our decisions to reorder products or replace them with something similar or different. If we have a large quantity of any wine in the store from any brand, it is typically because we have already built a following for the wine.
As an Independent Retailer, we make all of our decisions, not from a schematic sent in from a corporate office. We are fully invested and fully involved in the products that we sell. Before anything comes in the door, we already believe it to be a wine that delivers good value for the price. While you are selecting wines, it is our mission to help you find the ones from within the collection that you will enjoy the most.
